Regenesis
A Self-Published Dystopian Science Fiction Novella, written for my A-Level Extended Project Qualification.
My goal with this Novella was to further utilise the idea of distance as allegory I had been exploring within my A-Level English Literature work; namely the idea of using a far-removed futuristic fictional society as a means of exploring our own present society.
Synopsis
London 2236AD
Detective Matthew Alpaeuson is on a routine case to close down an illegal gay nightclub - Any sexuality differing from heterosexuality is considered a criminal offence, and the LGBTQ+ community faces regular persecution and violence.
What starts as a routine case quickly escalates however, leading Detective Alphaeuson down a trail of sleaze, corruption, secrecy and murder.
Can he uncover all he needs before it's too late?
----------
Written by 17 year old Joseph Mackay as part of an AS-Level Extended Project Qualification, Regenesis is a novella focusing on what we perceive to be regularities in modern society - portraying a dystopian future of differing social boundaries, vast technological advancement, Christian theology and rampant consumerism.
